SAMPLE DIET PLAN FOR COVID -19 PATIENTS – (with mild infection, isolating at home)

Morning Drink : In a glass of warm water add lime juice 2 tsp, add a pinch of haldi powder and a pinch of cinnamon powder.

Breakfast : Poha or upma or chapatti or idly or dosa with chutney or fresh vegetable preparation. Add a spoon of ghee in your meal.

After 30 minutes take a cup of herbal tea.

Herbal tea Preparation

  • Boil a cup water
  • Add 3 -4 fine slice of ginger, lemon grass, mint leaves and basil leaves.
  • Strain it and add jaggery to the liquid before drinking it.

Lunch : Rice or roti + dhal + veg curry + compulsory a green leafy vegetable preferably spinach + 1 glass of buttermilk.

Snacks : Dates, Nuts, seeds

Dinner: Kadhi khichdi or dhal soup or mixed veg soup or any veg soup + stuffed paratha or khakra or soft roti.

Bedtime : Warm milk with a pinch of turmeric

  1. Ghee improves your gut health.
  2. Lemon juice is known to boost immunity and haldi and cinnamon have anti viral properties apart from its many other health benefits.
  3. A tbsp of honey and a small piece of ginger can be taken anytime of the day
  4. Spinach has nitrate which produces nitric oxide which has anti inflammatory properties which inhibits the spreading of infection in the body
  5. Pomegranate juice, beetroot juice and pineapple are also rich in nitrate.
  6. Munch on something easy to digest e.g : plain pop corn, puffed rice, roasted rice flakes or home made dry bhel
  7. Keep yourself hydrated drink 3-4 liters of water, include coconut water, buttermilk,lemon ginger water, ajwain water etc.
